While I loved some of the newer characters and characters brought to the forefront， this book fell a little flat for me。 I wasn’t a fan of Hunt in the first book and this book did nothing to improve that。 Bryce is such an amazing and vivacious character that she needs someone equal to offset her and I don’t see Hunt as that。 I am very interested to see how the lives progress of some of the other characters in the upcoming book（s？）。 Were there moments that I gasped or screamed or cried at？ Of cou While I loved some of the newer characters and characters brought to the forefront， this book fell a little flat for me。 I wasn’t a fan of Hunt in the first book and this book did nothing to improve that。 Bryce is such an amazing and vivacious character that she needs someone equal to offset her and I don’t see Hunt as that。 I am very interested to see how the lives progress of some of the other characters in the upcoming book（s？）。 Were there moments that I gasped or screamed or cried at？ Of course。 It wouldn’t be a Maas book otherwise。 Those moments were few and far between though。 The one saving grace for me？ Chapter 78。 *No spoilers* The first book in this series holds a special place in my heart so I powered through and the end did not disappoint。 。。。more

So relieved I managed to avoid spoilers cos my reaction to those last pages was sheer disbelief。I felt like it lacked the emotional impact （cough *trauma* cough） of book one， but I still really enjoyed the storyline and revisiting some fav characters。 I was so eager to devour this that a reread in the near future will be necessary to fully digest every piece of information fed throughout the book and this could adjust my rating， but for now it’s a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
